News Knowsley Council Supports Business Growth Despite the tough economic times there are still businesses in the borough investing in growth. Knowsley Council is committed to supporting the private sector in the borough and has a range of services and grants available. Special Events for the New Year Knowsley Council in conjunction with Knowsley Chamber are running two special tendering events in the New Year. Morgan Foundation Entrepreneur Awards – Knowsley Winner Congratulations to Simon Roberts of Roberts Recycling based on Knowsley Industrial Park who won the Best Young Entrepreneur category at the Morgan Foundation Awards. Simon won £10,000 for his business which offers cash incentives for people recycling their unwanted items of clothing. The judges thought that 22-year old Simon’s vision for a social enterprise venture where unwanted clothes and items are diverted from landfill, and employment and training are offered, showed the entrepreneurship needed to succeed. HSBC Launches £25 Million Grant Scheme for SMEs HSBC Bank has announced that it is participating in the Government’s drive to boost small businesses. HSBC Business Growth Grant Competition The HSBC Bank has also announced that its Business Growth Grant Competition is now open for applications. Public Consultation on Waste Plan Knowsley Council, in conjunction with the other Merseyside authorities and Halton, has reached the final stages of preparation of a joint waste plan. On 25 November 2011, consultation began on a report detailing proposed waste policies and site allocations for new waste management facilities. Launch of the Knowsley Foundation The Knowsley Foundation is a new charitable, independent organisation which brings together private, public and voluntary sector partners to support social and economic development in Knowsley. New Start up Scheme for Ex Service Personnel A new start up scheme has been launched to offer ex service personnel who are looking to start up their own business start up training, grants and loans of up to £30,000, as well as mentoring. The Be the Boss programme was launched at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) by Business Minister, Mark Prisk MP. Are you looking for Childcare?
