DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg today praised the ECHO for a major new initiative aimed at helping small businesses in Merseyside.
The ECHO is to make a major announcement in the next few days on the campaign which will hand out grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 to local firms.
The Government has revealed that the ECHO’s project is to be one of the first beneficiaries of the new £1.4bn regional growth fund.
Mr Clegg said: “It is absolutely fantastic that the ECHO has taken the initiative. This is exactly the type of innovative project we are looking for particularly to help small businesses and create jobs.”
ECHO Editor Alastair Machray said: “We are delighted to have won Government backing for our campaign.
“We are planning to announce full details very shortly.”
